New look to a familiar name

By Steve Baska

The weekly newspaper, Castle Rock News-Press, which has been delivered to driveways in Douglas County for decades, has changed its masthead. For papers delivered within the city of Castle Pines, the front page now reads “Castle Pines News-Press.”

According to Jerry Healey, owner of Colorado Community Media, which publishes 18 local newspapers including the News-Press, this was part of a change which began on August 8 to provide more coverage specific to readers within the city.

“Castle Pines is a very important community in Douglas County. It is pretty much at the geographic center of everything and has plans to grow at a tremendous pace,” stated Healey. “After meeting with the Castle Pines Chamber and learning about how the community wants to establish its own identity, I went back and evaluated our coverage of Castle Pines and discovered some easily-correctible oversights.”

According to Healey, the paper will now include coverage of Rock Canyon High School and at least one front page story will be Castle Pines specific. “We expect that as the community grows, we will grow along with it and are
excited to be a part of it,” he stated.

The News-Press offices are located in Highlands Ranch and have no affiliation with this publication, The Castle Pines Connection.
