News from the Treasurer
Doug Glibert
Treasurer
City of
Castle Pines North
The work of the Treasurer has begun. Key items at city start up for a treasurer are to start the process of revenue collection (sales tax, property tax, fees, etc.) and start to develop policies around revenue and expenses. The Treasurer must work with several groups outside the city including the Colorado Department of Revenue, the Douglas County Treasurer, and businesses paying sales tax. That work has started already and will intensify as Council begins to pass enabling revenue ordinances.
Over the next few weeks there will be extensive efforts between the Treasurer and Council to develop understanding of the financial plans, budgets, and reports for the city as it transitions through the start up phase. An education plan on governmental accounting and budgeting will be prepared for Council and delivered over the next few months.
