Romance in the air: An evening with Nicholas Sparks

Article and photos by Julie Montoya

On a cool November evening, five hundred Nicholas Sparks fans came together at Cielo at Castle Pines to hear the New York Times bestselling author speak about his incredible literary career. This enchanted evening was organized by the Douglas County Library as part of its “Project Live!” campaign.

With sixteen New York Times bestsellers, including “The Notebook,” “Dear John,” and “The Last Song,” Nicholas Sparks is considered “America’s preeminent chronicler of the human heart.” Sparks’ novels are thrilling tales of love, woven with tragedy. Seven of Sparks’ books have been made into major motion pictures, with his newest masterpiece, based on his novel “Safe Haven,” hitting theaters next February.

Tattered Cover Bookstore was on hand at the event as well, making available all of Sparks’ novels for sale. Sparks hosted a book signing before and after the event, and even posed for pictures with his fans. A spokesperson for Cielo remarked that, “Nicholas was an engaging and delightful speaker, as we all knew he would be!” The night was a complete success!

A local young lady was one of Nicholas Sparks’ many endearing fans and was thrilled to meet him after the book signing.
