The community of Surrey Ridge is a tight-knit group of families and individuals who join together for parties in the park, Halloween hayrack rides, ladies bridge and many other activities throughout the year. This year, horse lover Renate Nieman organized the inaugural 4th of July community parade through the neighborhood. Smiling neighbors watched as horse and riders, John Deere tractors, an old Model T and kids paraded through the neighborhood. Organizers hope additional enthusiasts will join in the parade next summer.
