The Village at Castle Pines to host wine walk and summer concert

By Terri Wiebold

Canned Haggis dishes out a diversity of Scottish and Irish songs performed on the fiddle, small pipes, Great Highland Bagpipes, guitar, bass, bodhran, and djembe drums.

The Castle Pines Village merchants are partnering with the Cherokee Ranch and Castle to host a summer wine walk and Celtic concert on
Wednesday, August 12.

The annual wine walk will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the added entertainment this year of a Celtic concert in the plaza from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Village shops will be open for business, and participating merchants will provide in-store wine tasting from regions in the southern hemisphere. Wrist bands for the wine walk may be purchased for $15 per person, and all wines served will also be available for purchase at Village Wines.

The free concert runs from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the plaza and under the stars. The Celtic music is from a well known group called Canned Haggis. The group consists of fiddlers, drummers, pipers, dancers and singers. Learn more at www.cannedhaggis.com.

According to Karen Novotny, owner of the Garden Path flower shop and coordinator of the event, Canned Haggis is a high energy performance group and they will be going to the four corners of the center and calling people to the concert on the plaza.

“There will be dancers in full costume on the plaza, and involving concert attendees to participate, so bring your sense of humor and dancing shoes,” stated Novotny. “The merchants will be closing off the center to accommodate dancing in the street and hopefully a huge crowd.”

Bring chairs, sit on the lawn, or gather anywhere to enjoy this free concert under the stars.
