August Fundraising Events for New Library

The Castle Pines community has pulled together to help Douglas County Libraries open a small library at 7437 Village Square Drive in September. So far, nearly $36,000 has been pledged towards the $50,000 fundraising goal. To reach these aspirations, The Book Week End, a large-scale fundraising event has been set for August 20-23:

Thursday, August 20: Author’s Reception with Jon Shors (Beneath a Marble Sky, Beside a Burning Sea, Dragon House) and Dave Cullen (Colombine), 6:30 p.m. at the Cherokee Ranch & Castle (6113 N. Daniels Park Road). Book sales, book signing, dessert, castle tours, and a cash bar. Tickets are $50. To purchase tickets, contact Sharon Kollmar at 303-688-3359 or Contact by e-mail .

Saturday, August 22: Book Sale, 9-4 p.m. at the Castle Pines Community Center (7404 Yorkshire Dr.). Over 10,000 items at rock bottom prices. Information: Contact by e-mail

Sunday, August 23: Children’s Book Swap, 2-4 p.m. at Coyote Ridge Park (northeast corner of Monarch Blvd. and Hidden Pointe Blvd.). Children should bring five books to swap and $5 to participate. Don’t miss the moon bounce, author tent, featuring Justin Matott and Julie Danneberg, face painter, balloon twister, food vendors, field games and more. Information: Contact by e-mail

The Castle Pines Library will offer a children’s area, express computers, wireless Internet and self check-out, and great customer service. A community Grand Opening celebration will take place on Saturday, September 19 at the new library.
