On July 14, the Board of County Commissioners appointed Heidi Bowman of Castle Pines to fill a vacancy on the County’s Cultural Council.  Bowman, who also volunteers with Fresh Harvest Food Bank in Lone Tree, will serve the remainder of a three-year term that expires in January 2017.

“I am thrilled to have earned this appointment and look forward to working alongside existing board members to help decide which enriching opportunities to bring to the community,” stated Bowman.

Bowman returned to Colorado seven years ago and cites “the wealth of programs for every curiosity allowing outlets for the exploration and growth of a multitude of interests, talents and hobbies” as having been an influencer in choosing Douglas County as the community in which to raise her family.  That, and the “endless natural elements I love to get lost in,” she stated.

Members of the Douglas County Cultural Council help to identify opportunities to strengthen the cultural vitality of Douglas County by initiating, coordinating and advocating for projects that accomplish that purpose.  The Council also determines where sales tax proceeds as provided for in the Scientific and Cultural Facilities Act are distributed.
