In August, Bringing Music to Life (BMTL) donated more than 500 instruments to 36 schools throughout Colorado as a culmination of the organization’s 10th annual instrument drive. This year’s distribution adds to the more than 5,000 instruments donated to schools since its beginning as the Colorado Public Radio Instrument drive in 2009.

Rather than a presentation event this year, teachers from schools across the state were able to personally pick up their refurbished instruments at separate designated times. “It may not be as fancy or festive as in past years, but the teachers across Colorado are most appreciative to have instruments and to be able to make music again,” said Steve Blatt, BMTL executive director.

The instrument drive was held in March, and Castle Pines neighbors David and Anne Necker were involved with the drive locally. BMTL was our featured nonprofit in the Angels Among Us segment of the March issue of The Connection.
