During the holiday season, the spirit of giving burst from many classrooms at Buffalo Ridge Elementary (BRE).

“Buffalo Ridge has been adopting families for 10 years now during the holidays. This year we adopted 13 local families through St. Francis Assisi,” said Kristin Duran, BRE volunteer coordinator.

Near the end of November, wish lists for the families were sent home in Friday folders for BRE families to decide what item(s) they would like to purchase. All gifts were returned by mid December to be delivered to the families in need. Some classes had the gifts wrapped at home while others had a classroom wrapping party on the last day before the winter break.

BRE would also like to thank Pilates in the Pines, a local Castle Pines North business, for their support in helping these families in need.

In addition to helping with gifts, many classrooms also wrote letters and created handmade cards to send to military personnel serving overseas.
