Castle Pines Octoberfest; a barrel of fun!

Article by Kathy Dunker with photos by Tim Gamble

It was a beautiful 80 degree fall day in Colorado at the 10th annual Castle Pines Octoberfest hosted by the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce in the Safeway parking lot. Friends and neighbors joined in the fun with a variety of merchants, food, games, beer, wine, live music, and giveaways on Saturday, September 24.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was on hand with cars, motorcycles, weapons, bomb squad, and even mounties. Speed Raceway was there with a dragster in tow for all to admire. Other fun activities for the kids included balloon animals, face painting, a magician, and jump castles, with many vendors offering games, prizes and raffles.

Food options included pizza from Little Italy, sliders from Duke’s Steakhouse, Mexican food from Las Fajitas, steak bites from Safeway, German dishes from Red Umbrella, shaved ice from CJ’s, pretzel necklaces, and free corn on the cob from the Castle Pines North Master Association.

Eight year old Castle Pines resident, Christopher Mason, had this to say, “I had so much fun collecting candy and prizes, especially the blow up Tweety bird! And the best part of the day was getting my face painted like a tiger!”
