Summer is coming … how is your deck? The City of Castle Pines Building Department is hosting a free clinic on May 22 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Douglas County Libraries – Castle Pines on deck permits and projects.
All of the information shared will be based on the International Residential Code of 2021. One neighbor who attends the clinic will be eligible to win a free deck building permit, all fees waived by the City.
The topics will generally cover:
- Applicable building code with all pertinent code books, references, and guides
- The permitting process, including the submission of plans and other required construction documents
- The plan review process
- Requirements for a planning review
- Overview of the inspection process, including required inspections, inspection request procedures, and areas that the inspector will focus on
- Methods of construction
- Material requirements
- Common pitfalls
