God’s Grace Church encouraging terrific readers and writers

Submitted by God’s Grace Community Church

God’s Grace Community Church invites the community of Castle Pines to help encourage Terrific Readers and Writers at Paris Elementary School in Aurora. At Paris Elementary, 90 percent of the school’s 415 students qualify for free or reduced lunch and speak a language other than English at home. At many grade levels, fewer than 30 percent of students demonstrate reading proficiency.

Last year, God’s Grace honored 144 students at Paris who were nominated by their teachers for their hard work and improvement in reading and writing. Each student received a book of their own and a certificate of achievement.

As Paris Elementary gears up for another school year, God’s Grace invites the community to contribute new or nearly new books for K-5th grade students at Paris Elementary. The church plans to continue honoring Terrific Readers and Writers at Paris and hopes to collect enough books to send one home with every student at the school this year.

Donations can be dropped off on Sundays (8:30 a.m. to noon) at Rock Canyon High School, where the church is currently meeting OR e-mail Contact by e-mail claudia.larson@godsgracecc.com to make arrangements. Find more details at www.godsgracecc.com/serve.
