Haitian dance team to hold fundraising benefit at Cielo in April

By Lisa Crockett

The Rotary Club of Castle Pines is hosting the Resurrection Dance Theater of Haiti in a performance presented by the Haitian Timoun Foundation (HTF) to raise money toward the rebuilding of the St. Joseph facilities for homeless and disabled children, destroyed by the January 2010 Haiti earthquake. The event will be held at Cielo at Castle Pines (485 W. Happy Canyon Road in Castle Rock) on Monday, April 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The event will feature Haitian drumming and dancing, a performance by Hazel Miller (www.hazelmiller.com), Haitian art for sale, hot hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar. This event will also mark the chartering of the newly formed Rotary Club of Castle Pines, a significant step in the formation of this new club, which hopes to have a significant charitable impact in Douglas County and around the world. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased from
www.htflive.org.

The Haitian Timoun Foundation (Timoun means “children” in Haitian Creole) was founded in Littleton, Colorado in 2001, by leaders from Abiding Hope Lutheran Church. The foundation is a funding source for the best and most effective Haitian run organizations dedicated to educating children and raising families out of poverty. Abiding Hope Lutheran Church, which is launching a worship site in Castle Pines, is still an intimate partner with the ever growing HTF.
