The Sunset Amphitheater is opening in Colorado Springs in the spring of 2024. With a seating capacity of 8,000, the venue will be able to host concerts, plays and events that formally eluded the city. The luxury setting will have a view of Pikes Peak with the sun setting behind the stage.

Live music lovers rejoice.  The Sunset Amphitheater (The Sunset) is opening in Colorado Springs in the spring of 2024.  With a seating capacity of 8,000, the venue will be able to host concerts, plays and events that formerly eluded the city, and will have a mountain backdrop with a view of Pikes Peak.

“Designed by industry-renowned architects, The Sunset will offer an unparalleled view of the sun setting over Pikes Peak, right behind the stage,” according to The Sunset’s website.

“One thing we’re missing that you always had to go to Denver for was outdoor concerts,” said Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers.  “It’s a tremendous contribution to our community.”

The Sunset is being constructed on the southeast side of I-25 and North Gate Boulevard with a design plan to have stellar views of the stage from anywhere in the venue, including the restaurants and bars.  The projected cost of the build is $40 million.

Closest to the stage will be 3,940 premium, stadium-style seats, wider than typical seats with more legroom.

For lawn seating, there is space for approximately 3,500, an area that will slope up to the top of the arena.  Grass-like turf and state-of-the art drainage systems will allow for a dryer and more comfortable lawn experience.

For the royal treatment, The Sunset will offer 488 VIP seats located in a private area above the premium seats.  Each of the 61 suites will have a firepit, seating for eight, and wait service before and during events.

In addition to food and beverage for purchase – chicken tenders, gourmet nachos, bratwursts and craft beer – to name a few, The Sunset will have four, five-star restaurants.

The backer of The Sunset, Notes Live, Inc., is a Colorado Springs-based operation that is seeking to provide premium live music experiences in growing areas around the country or what the company refers to as “entertainment deserts.”

Western and southern states including Georgia, Tennessee and Texas are three of the 10 markets Notes Live is also targeting over the next five years, according to the company’s website.

“There are few things in life more precious than making memories with friends and family,” stated J.W. Roth, CEO, Founder, and Chairman of Notes Live.  “For me, those memories have always been around amazing food and great entertainment.”

As required by city zoning, there will be approximately 2,000 parking spaces within a half-mile radius of the venue with overflow parking within a two-mile radius for a total of about 3,000 spaces.  A drop-off location and rideshare area will also be provided as well as plans for remote parking with passenger shuttles to and from the venue.
