Timber Trail Elementary (TTE) is home to a new climbing wall. The wall was paid for with funds from the Timber Trail Educational Alliance (TTEA), with some of the money coming from the school’s annual fundraising auction at Cielo in April.
Most of the funding, however, came from local business person, Master Han Lee, who runs Han Lee’s Tae Kwon Do Academy in Castle Rock. Master Lee held assemblies at the school to generate new student registrations, then donated new member fees to the school for the purchase of the climbing wall. The wall provides students with a non-traditional physical education experience.

“The use of a climbing wall in a P.E. setting can be a very effective, alternative way to teach various important skills such as problem solving, team building, communication, and many others,” said TTE Physical Education Teacher Nicholas Newman. “All of that takes place while the students are getting a wonderful strength workout, and boosting their self-confidence.”
