The Carlson family, 12-year residents of Forest Park in Castle Pines North, are beside themselves with excitement. Their two sons, Nathan (17) and Alex (12) each got a hole in one while golfing on September 7 and September 8 respectively.

Nathan, a senior at Regis Jesuit High School, has been golfing since he was seven. Through private lessons at Red Hawk Ridge in Castle Rock, and continued practice during the last 10 years, Nathan is an experienced golfer and is on the Regis school golf team.

Younger brother, Alex, a seventh grader at Rocky Heights Middle School, began the sport at age five and learned most of his skills from his dad and his older brother.

September 7 was a big day for Alex at The Ridge Golf Course in Castle Pines North. Playing the course with his dad, Eric, and a brand new golf club in hand, Alex came upon hole #12 which is a par 3. He took a swing with his new club and his ball never hit the green; it hit the pin and dropped straight into the hole for his first hole in one!

Nathan went out on the Pradera Golf Course in Parker the following day with the Regis golf team for a practice round. As he approached hole #8, also a par 3, he told his teammates, “My brother got a hole in one yesterday. I’m not going to let my little brother show me up!” And on that note, determined to keep up with Ale+x, Nathan took a swing, his ball landed six inches past the hole, and the ball then rolled backwards into the hole for a hole in one. The most amazing part is that he called it!

What are the odds of this happening? According to an article by Sports Illustrated, the odds are roughly 45,000 to 1 for scoring a hole in one on a typical par 3 golf hole. So, the odds of two brothers each getting a hole in one within two days is anybody’s guess, but it must be close to impossible.

Celeste Siade, proud mom to the boys, said, “We were very excited for both of them. And the best part was how excited they were for each other!”
