Walgreens Moves Ahead; Canyons Takes its Time

by Lisa Crockett

The shopping center on the north side of Castle Pines Parkway at the intersection of Lagae Road is beginning to take shape.

“A cold winter delayed our construction a bit,” said Max Heitzmann, who is managing the project for Mineappolis-based developer Anxon, Inc. “The store should be open some time in the first few weeks of October.”

The site will also be home to a Grease Monkey and a day care center, both slated to open some time early next year. As of press time, one “pad” of the four-pad development was still unoccupied.

Directly east across I-25, the planned community known as “The Canyons” has yet to break ground.

“We’re taking our time, really perfecting our design plans,” said Darren Everett of The Alpert Companies, who is developing the land. The technical and design changes the company is making are minor variations and do not affect the size or overall makeup of the development.

At build out, the community will have roughly 1,500 homes as well as parks, schools, and other amenities.
