On July 25, The Red Hawk Ridge Ladies’ Golf Club sponsored a Nine Hole Better Ball Tournament to raise needed funds for The Women’s Crisis and Family Outreach Center and The Douglas/Elbert Task Force and Food Bank.

The Wormen’s Crisis and Family Outreach Center assistance helps victims of domestic violence through programs including its 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, therapy and legal advocacy, and community outreach. The mission of the Douglas/Elbert Task Force is to meet the immediate needs of residents of Douglas and Elbert Counties who are in financial distress and at risk of becoming homeless, and to help them work through troublesome times with dignity. They provide essential services like food, clothing and household items, utilities, rent, information/referrals, and much more.

Sixty-four members and guests participated in the tournament, dinner, and silent auction. Representatives from both organizations spoke to the ladies, heightening their awareness about the need in our community for the charities’ services and their overall mission.

The event raised more than $4,600 and two truckloads of requested items for the organizations. There was a tremendous response from our local business community, the Red Hawk Ridge Ladies’ Golf Club members, and friends with hole sponsorships and donated items.

The Rally committee members were Leann Biesterfelt, Karen Bronson, Peggy Claar, Sharon Ferris, Robin Freund, Carol Rose, Denise McGinnis, and Bev Williams. The committee would like to thank our members and their guests, the local business community, and the Red Hawk Ridge staff for their continued support to the success of this tournament.
