Arapahoe Community College (ACC) will be opening its third campus this August, in time for fall 2011 enrollment. ACC Castle Rock’s new 7,800 square-foot facility will be located at 4700 Castleton Way, south of Founders Parkway and west of I-25, in Castle Rock. The campus will include five classrooms, two computer labs, and state-of-the-art technology.

ACC Castle Rock’s course offerings will include associate of arts and associate of science transfer programs, career and technical education, workforce training, concurrent enrollment for high school students, and community education. Additionally, guaranteed transfer courses will be offered; these are the basic requirement classes necessary to obtain a bachelor’s degree at a four-year institution.

ACC Castle Rock will also offer customized training courses for businesses and industries. Classes will be held Monday-Friday, and may include evenings, Saturday and Sunday.

ACC, which has its main campus in Littleton and another smaller campus in Parker, had been interested in the Castle Rock area for some time. ACC’s officials worked collaboratively with local community leaders and citizens, Town of Castle Rock council members, and the Castle Rock Economic Development Council to identify the needs of the community and make the new campus a reality. The town council recently approved $230,000 for ACC Castle Rock during the next five years for its five-year lease.

ACC President Diana Doyle is looking forward to opening the new Castle Rock campus and is hopeful that area residents will take advantage of the opportunity to take classes close to home.

“ACC is committed to providing innovative, accessible, and affordable education,” said Doyle. “ We are excited to provide higher education for citizens in the southern part of ACC’s service region.”
