BRE blesses the community

Students at Buffalo Ridge Elementary (BRE) hosted an end-of-school-year food drive for nonprofit Bin Blessed (BB). It was a record-breaking drive for BB, bringing in more than 2,300 items. It took five carloads to deliver all the shelf-stable food items, including cereal, peanut butter, jelly, pasta sauce and more than 300 boxes of mac-n-cheese.

Each classroom had a green bin to fill. BRE’s National Elementary Honor Society helped facilitate the food drive, a first for BB. Jenna Johns’ third-grade class donated the most items and celebrated the victory with a root beer float party.

“This was an amazing accomplishment,” stated Cy DeBoer, founder of BB. “Our thanks to the wonderful school, Buffalo Ridge Elementary.”

Bin Blessed is in its eleventh year and supports There With Care, a nonprofit that provides bins of practical support items to families with critically ill children.
