Children’s Hospital Colorado South Campus to open in December
The new Children’s Hospital Colorado South Campus opens on December 19. The facility is located at the corner of Plaza Drive and Lucent Boulevard, just south of C-470 in Highlands Ranch and is the only 24-hour pediatric urgent care facility located in the south Denver metro area.

Children’s Hospital Colorado will open its new medical facility, Children’s Hospital Colorado South Campus (CHCSC) on Thursday, December 19. The facility is located at the corner of Plaza Drive and Lucent Boulevard, just south of C-470, in Highlands Ranch.
CHCSC will be the only 24-hour pediatric urgent care facility located in the south Denver metro area and will offer more than twenty-five outpatient special clinics, a comprehensive sports medicine program, outpatient lab (six days a week), twelve private in-patient rooms, surgery care with private recovery rooms, imaging services (MRI, CT, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy), and diagnostic services (ECHO, EKG, EEG, audiology, and sleep studies).
The in-patient unit will be staffed with Children’s Hospital Colorado board-certified pediatric medical professionals. The twelve private in-patient rooms will have sleeping accommodations for parents and/or guardians; one of the in-patient rooms will have two patient beds, in case siblings need to be treated simultaneously. The in-patient unit will also house three dedicated sleep study rooms for the overnight sleep study program.
CHCSC’s modern glass and brick structure is four stories tall, has approximately 180,000 square feet of space, and sits on 22 acres of land. The facility was designed and built using data from a study called evidence-based design, which can aid in speeding pediatric patients’ recovery time.
Unique lighting solutions, finishes, and other design elements – including a creative play center, an outdoor play area for siblings, multiple child life playrooms, and a Ronald McDonald House family room – were implemented to make hospital visits and overnight stays less stressful for young patients and their families.
Children’s Hospital Colorado’s decision to build the new facility at the Highlands Ranch location was in response to the many requests from patients and their families wanting to receive medical treatment closer to home. CHCSC staff members are expecting to see close to 80,000 visits in their first year of operation.
