Collaborative mental health services and school security funding recommendations
Information provided by Douglas County
The Board of Douglas County Commissioners held a special work session on July 16 in Castle Rock to hear funding recommendations and status reports regarding plans for $13.3 million appropriated for school security and mental health services for students. The Board had previously approved a resolution appropriating the funds at their May 28 public hearing.
Recommendations made by both the Supportive Mental Health for Students Funding Committee and the Physical School Safety & Protection Funding Committee are currently being reviewed by the Commissioners. The presentations from these committees, as well as those detailing School Resource Officer and Youth Community Response Team progress, are available at www.douglas.co.us/county-commissioners-receive-collaborative-mental-health-services-and-school-security-funding-recommendations.
The Board is grateful to all who have worked swiftly and tirelessly during the past weeks, including the committee members, to provide and review materials and information to form the comprehensive recommendations. As the recommendations are considered and final determinations are made, updates will be provided.
