The summer concert series in Castle Pines has been a hit with residents and a success for the sponsor, the Castle Pines North Master Association. The final concert will be held September 7 at Coyote Ridge Park.
The concerts have drawn hundreds of people who bring lawn chairs to enjoy a professional band, concessions, and conversation with neighbors. Admission is free.
In recent years there has been one concert per year, but this year the association decided to do a series of three, said Kim Maguire, manager of the Master Association.
“The concerts are a chance for homeowners and families in all neighborhoods in Castle Pines to pack a picnic dinner, bring chairs or blankets and sit back, relax with family and friends and enjoy a free concert,” she said. “Attendees love the fact that we were able to provide a series of concerts this year. They’ve enjoyed the band selections that were made, which is sometimes difficult to do, as we strive to reach all age groups that we have here in Castle Pines.”
The first concert this summer was on June 7 and featured the Margarita Brothers playing hits of The Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffet and others in a great sing-along atmosphere. Due to weather, the second concert was rescheduled for Sunday, September 7 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. It will feature Tuxedo Junction, a 1940s U.S.O. Show featuring music of Frank Sinatra, a horn section, and classic sounds of the Andrew Sisters.
The August 16 concert (pictured above) was Tunisia, a contemporary group playing many styles from current hits to classic rock, Motown, hip hop and jazz.
According to Maguire, the association plans to continue the concert series along with the community garage sale and DVD/book swap. “They have been very successful for our homeowners,” she said.
