Free "Hugs" are given to children who need them.

RHMS students were happy to share “hugs” with those in need. “It was so easy for us to collect these stuffed animals, and great to know that they will be sent to children who need them,” remarked an NJHS student.

During the week of April 2, Rocky Heights Middle School National Junior Honor Society, and Share the Run running club, worked to collect stuffed animals for Loving Hugs.org.

Loving Hugs is an organization that collects new and gently used stuffed animals, called “Hugs” to send to children in war zones, orphanages, refugee and IDP (internally displaced persons) camps, and medical/hospital facilities around the world. They also collect the donations of stuffed animals for emergencies from natural disasters around the world.

Students made signs, collected, sorted and bagged animals all week. The school donated nine very large bags in total.  Due to size restrictions in connection to Loving Hugs, three of the bags went to Good Will, three to a shelter, and three were brought to the Loving Hugs Spring Fling Event on Saturday, April 7th.
