Take charge of your health 3

By Elean Gersack

9Health Fair is coming to locations across Colorado in April and both Sky Ridge Medical Center and the Castle Rock Recreation Center will play host. The 9Health Fair has become an annual regimen for those taking charge of personal health and wellness.

The Castle Rock Recreation Center will host the fair on Friday, April 19, from 7 a.m. to noon and Sky Ridge Medical Center, along with Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine, will host it on Saturday, April 20, from 7 a.m. to noon.

Both sites will offer basic screenings. For $30, receive a detailed blood draw, which will provide a baseline for cholesterol, blood sugar and thyroid levels, as well as liver and kidney functions. For added costs, the blood draw can include Vitamin D, PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen), Hemoglobin A1c (detailed blood sugar) and/or blood count screenings, too.

In addition to the blood draw options, visitors can speak with a medical professional about questions or concerns and obtain a variety of free screenings, including but not limited to: Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure, lung function, oral health, skin, and stress management. A take-home colon cancer screening kit will also be available for $20.

The Castle Rock Recreation Center is located at 2301 Woodlands Boulevard in Castle Rock, and Sky Ridge Medical Center is located at 10101 RidgeGate Parkway, just west of I-25 at RidgeGate Parkway.
