Increased DCSO presence in Castle Pines
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) is taking steps to enhance public safety in Castle Pines by increasing the number of deputies on patrol and dedicating more resources to traffic enforcement.
Sheriff Darren Weekly has responded to concerns voiced by residents, particularly about speeding, aggressive driving and the need for better traffic control in the area.
“Listening to the community is our priority,” said Weekly. “We’ve heard the feedback, and we’re committed to making Castle Pines safer for everyone.”
One significant addition to the team is a dedicated traffic deputy, a specialized role that allows the officer to address specific problem areas where speeding and other dangerous driving behaviors have been reported.
To address these concerns, DCSO has added new deputies to ensure broader coverage throughout the week. This increased presence is aimed at not only responding quickly to calls but also providing proactive policing to deter potential issues before they arise.
Speeding has been a top concern among Castle Pines residents, especially in residential neighborhoods and near schools. DCSO aims to curb dangerous driving practices and increase visibility to deter speeders. In addition to cracking down on speeding, DCSO has also ramped up efforts to enforce laws regarding stopping and yielding to pedestrians at crosswalks.
“It’s not just about writing tickets,” explained Weekly. “It’s about educating our community on the rules of the road.” The increased enforcement is paired with educational efforts. School Resource Officers are also engaging with students to make sure they are following the law.
Residents have already begun noticing the increased presence and proactive measures. From patrolling school zones during drop-off and pick-up times to monitoring high-traffic areas during peak hours, deputies are making a visible impact.
“Public safety is our number one priority,” said Weekly. “We are committed to listening to our residents and taking action to create a safer environment for everyone who lives, works, and drives in Castle Pines.”
