Go putt for Wellspring Community

Contributed by the City of Lone Tree

Grab your putter and neon colored golf ball for a chance to win great prizes during the Go Putt for Wellspring charity miniature golf tournament. On Saturday, June 2nd, the Lone Tree Youth Commission will host this fun, family-friendly tournament to raise money for the non-profit Wellspring Community, which provides innovative services to adults with developmental disabilities. Thanks to the Lone Tree Youth Commission, 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to supporting Wellspring’s innovative programs for adults with special needs.

Challenge your teammates to a “closest to the pin” competition or battle for the most holes in one. Generous event sponsors have donated tickets and prizes to Elitch Gardens, Brunswick Zone XL, The Wildlife Experience, SafeSplash Swim School and the Lone Tree Arts Center for those that win these and other competitions throughout the event.

“The Youth Commission wanted to plan a fun community event that also gave back to a charity in Douglas County,” said Abby Cruz, Lone Tree Youth Commissioner. “We hope that families attend the event and have fun playing miniature golf for a great cause.”

Doors open at 8:15 a.m. with a shotgun start beginning promptly at 9:00 a.m. for all participants. The event will be held in Lone Tree at Go Putt! Miniature Golf at 9741 Park Meadows Drive. The cost is $10/adults and $6/kids (12 & younger). The first 100 participants to register for the event online will receive a $10 voucher from Golf Galaxy. Drinks and snacks are also included in the price of admission.

“Adults with special needs have such limited opportunities for employment, socializing, and recreation,” stated Mary Lou Fenton, Wellspring Community’s executive director. “Most people don’t know that the state of Colorado ranks among the lowest in the nation in funding services for these individuals. Wellspring Community’s innovative and entrepreneurial programs offer adults with developmental disabilities opportunities to experience meaningful work in our Best Buddies Bakery, on-going enrichment classes, and a place to belong. We depend on private donations to keep costs low for our families, so we are very grateful to the Lone Tree Youth Commission’s fund raising efforts on Wellspring’s behalf. The money raised at the Go Putt event will go toward our Tuition Assistance Program.”
