Operation Bright Star (OBS) completed yet another year of giving to the Women’s Crisis and Family Outreach Center of Castle Rock. On Sunday, November 20, Steve and Jodi Robinson, organizers of the third annual event – along with more than 100 friends, neighbors and community members – rolled up their sleeves to assemble meal boxes for those in need. They are pleased to report that they exceeded their goal of 50 full Thanksgiving meal boxes.

“There is no way we could have achieved our goal without each and everyone’s effort, however small or large,” said Steve Robinson. “We think the Thanksgiving cards created by the kids really topped off the personal touch.”

The OBS gang delivered five carloads of Thanksgiving meals and turkey’s to the Women’s Crisis and Family Outreach Center of Castle Rock. The delivery was perfect timing, as the donations filled up their storage area and enabled them to start distributing the meals immediately.

The Women’s Crisis and Family Outreach Center was very appreciative of the community support. “Operation Bright Star’s community spirit is inspiring and the actual donation so needed for our families,” commented Ann Carter of The Women’s Crisis and Family Outreach Center.

Operation Bright Star would like to extend a special thank you to those that were instrumental in this year’s success: Scott & Cindy Shugart, Sean & Carlie Leach, Bill & April Parcells, Brian & Tammy Dawson, Mark & Lisa Voss, Kent & Dede Robinson, Jim Gile, Elliot Roberts, Scout Pack 856, Girl Scout Toop 1891, Founders Village Community, and Castle Pines HOA #1.

Steve expressed his gratitude by saying, “We are very proud of our friends and neighbors and how they come together and answer the call to support our community.” We look forward to reporting this ever growing kindness again next year, as the Robinsons are already making notes on how to expand and improve for next year’s efforts.
