Castle Pines Athletics recently launched a new basketball program in Castle Pines. The recreational co-ed program is designed for children ages preschool to fourth grade.

Finding an indoor facility in the area was quite a challenge. Thanks to a partnership with DCS Montessori School, Castle Pines Athletics was able to start a basketball league consisting of 14 teams.

“Our new basketball program would not be possible without the support of the DCS Montessori School,” said Castle Pines Athletics Assistant Manager Paula Romero. “This school literally jumped through hoops to make our schedule work and we are so grateful to them.”

Through this partnership, Castle Pines Athletics will give more than $2,900 to the local charter school.

Castle Pines Athletics depends on volunteer parent coaches to make the program a success. The new basketball program brought back veteran coaches, as well as a few new faces. Special thanks to the following parent coaches:

Preschool and kindergarten coaches – Shannon Cosart, Jeff DePasse, Scott Miller, and Rob Terry; First and second grade coaches – Clint Fisch, Justin Holderness, John Ogden, Chad Petersen, John Pettygrove, and Mark Quam;
Third and fourth grade coaches – Jean Barrick, Jason Dudley, Bill Nicholson, and Tom Rennell.

Castle Pines Athletics would also like to extend a tremendous thank you to Dr. Andrew Dunbar with Castle Pines Orthodontics and to Dazbog Coffee and local owner Geoff Newman for supporting this program.

“Castle Pines Orthodontics and Dazbog have supported Castle Pines Athletics for seven consecutive seasons and we are so thankful for their contributions to this program,” said Romero.

With this addition of basketball, Castle Pines Athletics now offers programs four times per year. “We are so pleased to be able to bring an indoor sport to Castle Pines children during the winter months,” said Castle Pines Athletics founder Lane Roberts.

The new basketball program runs weeknights through February 11. To learn more about spring programs with Castle Pines Athletics, visit www.castlepinesathletics.com or e-mail.
