schoolThe construction renovation is underway for a multi-specialty University of Colorado Hospital clinic and medical building in Lone Tree. Two existing buildings will be joined together by a new lobby area that is being constructed to connect the entire clinic.
The new medical facility is located on Park Meadows Drive, just east of Brunswick Zone. Colorado University (CU) Hospital officials noted that the new facility does not replace the University of Family Medicine at Park Meadows that is located at 8080 Park Meadows Drive, but it will be larger and offer many more services.
The new clinic is scheduled to open in October with specialty services that include ear, nose and throat; orthopedic surgery; urology; cardiology; oncology infusion; and gastroenterology. Outpatient surgery will be offered, but there will be no inpatient care, such as hospital beds or overnight stays.
“All of us … look forward to being able to serve still more people in this vibrant community with the hospital’s unique, advanced services,” said Bruce Schroffel, the hospital’s president and CEO, in a statement released through Crimson Services.
“We clearly need to make the effort to bring our services to the patient, and not simply demand they come to us,” noted physician Todd Kingdom. “This is geographic, patient-centered type care. We plan to bring many, and hopefully someday all of our services, to many communities. Going south is the first effort. Plans are under way to go north, maybe in the next two to three years.”
Kingdom also noted that the clinic providers will become familiar faces to patients – there won’t be a different physician or “revolving door” providers for patients. “There is a real attempt to be like a private practice with great service and a patient-centered approach.”
The new University of Colorado Hospital Medical Center will be among two other medical facilities in Lone Tree, joining Sky Ridge Medical Center and Kaiser-Permanente.
